Headwaters Artist in International Watercolour Exhibition
Canadian watercolour artist Marlene Madole has just returned from Avignon in France, and the opening of the French stage of an elite two-part watercolour exhibition between the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour (CSPWC/SCPA) and the France Watercolor Society (SFA). Titled, Au-delà des mers: Between Friends; Across the Seas: Entre Amis, the show features 120 paintings selected from member submissions. Stage one of the two-part exhibit opened earlier this summer at the Helson Gallery and Sisnett Lobby in Halton Hills, before moving to Avignon, France in August, hanging at Le Cloitre Saint-Louis in Avignon until Sept 16.
Williams Mill artist Marlene Madole, a past-president of CSPWC, earned admission to both the Canadian and the French stages of the exhibition. Her entry to the exhibit, titled Big Blue III, was painted specifically for the competition.
“The painting features a cluster of grapes from my Dad’s orchard in the Okanagan valley in BC,” Madole said. “So, I sent Canadian grapes to a wine district in France. It’s perfect. I couldn’t be happier.”
Marlene Madole’s studio is located in the Courtyard Studio / Gallery 7 in the Williams Mill Visual Arts Centre, 515 Main Street, Glen Williams, with studio hours open most Fridays and Saturdays from 12-5 pm, or by appointment.
