MEDIA RELEASE – Wednesday, September 5, 2018
On the eve of their 9-year anniversary, Phil DeWar, owner of Soulyve Caribbean Kitchen and pillar in the downtown Orangeville community, has announced that the award-winning restaurant will be closing its doors on December 31st, 2018.
“It’s been a heck of a ride,” says DeWar. “We absolutely love being part of this community and helping make Orangeville and the entire Headwaters region a culinary destination. I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished. Our lease is expiring at the end of the year, and now feels like the time to move on.”
DeWar privately made the announcement to staff, noting that the success of Soulyve was just as much theirs as his own. “We’ve had the blessing of building a successful business in a community that has embraced our vision. I couldn’t be prouder of what we have all built together,” says DeWar.
Since first opening its doors in 2009, Soulyve has been instrumental in transforming the culinary landscape in the Orangeville area; participating in community activities, festivals and events. A highlight being their appearance on The Food Network’s You Gotta Eat Here!
Over the next few months the affectionately known Soulyve Crew look forward to celebrating their #GrandClosing with you! DeWar insists, “We want this to be a positive thing. We are excited for the next chapter in our lives, and we want to end on a high note.”
Mr. DeWar is unsure of what exactly comes next, but looks forward to investing more time with his family, who have supported him unconditionally while establishing Soulyve. No matter what the future holds, Mr. DeWar says, “Orangeville is my home, and I look forward to continuing to celebrate this wonderful town.”
