On Thursday, June 28th, Headwaters Tourism Board and staff, were joined by Dufferin-Caledon MP David Tilson, Dufferin-Caledon MPP Sylvia Jones, and over 60 community champions, leaders and project collaborators to celebrate the launch of Headwaters Inspired.

Understanding the impact of arts and culture in our region, Dufferin County, the Town of Caledon and the Town of Erin supported Headwaters Tourism in the development of an arts and culture framework.  The project has created a web-based portal, Headwaters Inspired, that will serve as a hub of information, business and resource listings, all showcasing the breadth and scope of the rich fabric of our communities.

Along with being a resource for residents, visitors and municipalities, the project is building off Headwaters Tourism’s focus of showcasing and telling the stories of those people and places that make this region of the Province so special. The name of the project itself, Headwaters Inspired, really says it all.  As the project evolved it became clear that the beauty and richness of our land, our heritage, our community and our people in Headwaters inspires our creators, our makers, our champions, our storytellers; and they in turn inspire one another, and those they meet along the way.  A virtuous and inspired circle!

“What surprised me most is where each individual finds their inspiration”, said Headwaters Inspired project manager, Vicki Sword.  And there’s lots of inspiration to be found in Headwaters, with over 1,500 listings gathered already on the website, and the opportunity to continue to grow and add to the listings into the future.

The launch event also gave an opportunity to showcase the images and videos that were created by Caledon resident, Simon Burn, as part of this project.  “What about Headwaters inspires you?” was the question he posed to many of our project collaborators, and those stories and their images can be found on the website, along with a showcase video featuring original music by Shelburne musician Ed Roman.

The Headwaters Inspired site is a continually evolving project.  Artists, creators, history keepers, storytellers, and artisans of every discipline are encouraged to list their business and post their events for free and be part of our Inspired community.

The Headwaters Inspired project was made possible through the support of Dufferin County, the Town of Caledon, the Town of Erin, and the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture Food & Rural Affairs.
