Business & Community Organizations Museums

Heritage Caledon is the Town of Caledon’s volunteer municipal heritage committee. Established in 1976, Heritage Caledon’s principal mandate is to advise and assist the municipality on such matters as the designation, alteration or demolition of heritage properties under the Ontario Heritage Act. Other activities include the promotion of heritage awareness and initiatives within the community, and providing advice to heritage property owners on appropriate restoration and maintenance practices. Heritage Caledon consists of 9 members appointed by Council, as well as one Councillor and the Town’s Heritage Resource Officer. Members are selected on the basis of their demonstrated interest, knowledge and expertise in heritage matters, with representation sought from the local historical societies and all geographic areas of the Town. All members are regarded as private citizens and do not represent any agency or firm in their capacity as a member of Heritage Caledon.

Members terms on Heritage Caledon are concurrent with the term of Council. Heritage Caledon meets on the second Monday of each month with the exception of August at the Town of Caledon offices. The public is welcome to attend.
